We have had a lot of snow in Chicago lately! The plowed snow underneath the bird feeder is like a little snow perch for the birds to rest on! One thing I love about snow is that you can always see where everyone and everything has been! Tracks in the snow tell you how people spent their day and tracing them can be fun. Dog walker over here...Gas meter reader behind the house...etc. The best tracks are animal and bird tracks though. I really enjoy seeing animal tracks, identifying them, and tracing them around to find where they lead. I have fun identifying small birds, rabbits, and the occasional deer or fox. A few days ago though, I saw a set of tracks I have never seen before near our house! I took pictures to show size and scale compared to my hand. I have narrowed it down to a wild turkey or a pheasant. They are definitely ornithological in nature but are too big to be most of the normal birds that come to my feeder. Cool! Sadly, I have just discovered that I erased the pictures I took. Oh well! Maybe our mysterious friend will return!

8 Birdies Chirping in the Nest:
It's always neat to see the different tracks in the snow. I would love to see all those tracks that you mentioned. We get cats and dogs. That's about it lol. Oh and people.
I'm kind of a "snow reader," too. I love to go out after a snow and see if the deer, the rabbits or whatever other critters have visited. I don't get human tracks out here! In fact, I'd be nervous if I found that someone had been walking through my property!
Love the picture! And I can't wait to find out what the mystery creature turns out to be!
Love you!
Mom
Now that is a different twist on snow... tracking tracks! I like!
Have you seen any owls lurking about the feeder during daylight hours, Bradley? It's been so miserable in Vermont, my mother say's the barred owls have resorted to hunting chickadees in broad daylight. I haven't seen that in Michigan -- yet. It's four below today, and we're running out of places to deposit our shoveled snow!
I love how you always look at the positive in everything!
The beautiful wife :)
Jody is so right! You are a very upbeat person! That's one of the many lovable things about you!!

That's pretty cool. Hopefully it does come back.
A few days ago our dog escaped out of our fenced yard and the tracks in the neighbors yard helped us figure out where we needed to fix the fence.
